Make sure you take a 'friend'. Even if the individual who hires you has innocent intentions, private parties can get out of hand. If someone does cross the line, you don't want it to be just your word as to what you did or did not agree to do. I used to escort my roommate when she did private parties. I just stayed in the background, held money for her, and was a witness/deterrent .

You are lovely! :)

I do clowning and while I started as low as $80 I now say $100 to $150 for 90 minutes. You figure by the time you go somewhere and back...and your costume expenses...it's just not worth it for me to leave the house for less then $100.

You won't be taken seriously if you don't charge what you're worth, and no one else is charging less then this who is a professional. And I'm just a parade clown/puppet guy. 12 year olds giving me flack are probably no worse then drooling guys hitting on you, believe me -- ever have anyone squeeze your nose?

I am relatively new at this game, I have been performing in a troupe now for about 11/2 years. I have a pretty good solo act. I have recently been asked to perform at a private party. I am wondering what is acceptable to charge for such a performance? I don't really know where to start or what to expect. Anyone with insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
